Your Visit

Initial Visit

Dentist Our clinical staff will review your medical and dental history to get a clear understanding of your dental concerns and goals. Our goal is to make your visits as pleasant as possible. We will take all necessary radiographs (Xrays) to aide the doctor in diagnosing tooth decay and periodontal (gum) disease. We will do our best to get you out of pain as soon as possible. A treatment plan will be given so that you are aware of your dental needs and the cost involved. As your dentist, we make decisions with you, not for you. The best measure of our success is the referral of your friends and family. Thank you in advance for your confidence in us.

Your first visit will include a full dental examination, which includes charting of your teeth and fillings, periodontal probing to determine your gum conditions and a comprehensive Oral Cancer Screening. We will also take necessary x-rays to aid the doctor in making treatment recommendations.  As always, it is better to diagnose and treat early.  All of our x-rays are taken following the recommendations of the American Dental Association and are digital.

Second Visit

A routine dental prophylaxis (“cleaning”) is typically performed every 6 months in patients with healthy gums. Periodontal (deep) scaling may be required to achieve health and provide a solid foundation for restorations. More frequent recall or maintenance appointments may be necessary to maintain oral health.

Emergencies

Unfortunately, you cannot always anticipate when a dental emergency may occur. Should the need arise and you are a patient of record, please call the Doctor-on-Call telephone number: 757-630-4670.  One of our friendly doctors will evaluate your problem and prescribe appropriate medication. We will appoint you to be seen in our office the next business day.
